I’ve heard respected college coaches talk about building a foundation of “work capacity” in the off season to survive two hour practices in the spring. Of course, I ask, “Why are two hour practices necessary to prepare for events measured in seconds?”
🚨THE SECOND TEN🚨 The ability to continue to accelerate from 10-20 is invaluable for a good 40 yard performance. Being able to climb your hips, rise through your torso, and keep accelerating deep into the run can separate good from great runs.
Here’s a vid for my acceleration keys 1. Max speed 10’s (biggest one: INTENT) 2. Sled sprints (build force prod. for early strides) 3. ISOs (groove mechanics & help feel max force prod. into ground) 4. Heavy sleds (force prod./ankle stiffness) 5. Strength = forceful strides
A thread for the folk who love some world-class speed mechanics - here's @TrayvonBromell (9.76 100m) doing block work ahead of tomorrow's @MillroseGames
You must go forward before you go up. The first 2-3 steps are about getting forward, then you will begin to rise. If you shoot up first, you have lost valuable time and distance in a critical 1-3 steps off the line.
🔑DRIBBLES🔑 To increase the stride length and velocity of your dribbles, you must HIT DOWN + PUSH HARD away. This combo leads to higher hip displacement.
Wickets change us… eventually establishing better sprint habits. Wickets had a immediate impact with this high school freshman. Only 3 minutes separate these two pictures. Spiked, 6.5 feet spacing, full speed. #BigInTheFront
An elite starter is able to generate tons of horizontal force while applying it effectively. @clownejd pushes his body forward while retracting his leg back into the ground on the first three steps🔑
Your hips and lower body produce all of your horsepower. Keep a still torso and allow your lower half to project your body forward in space!
