This is such very sad news. Alex Wheatle was a kind and warm supporter of Megaphone, a great person and a great writer, and we are so sorry to have lost him. My thoughts and deep sympathy to his family and loved ones. xxx

Heartbreaking news, the bold, brilliant and inspiring Alex Wheatle has left this world. He paved the way for so many authors of colour and was an inspiration in the industry. May he rest in peace and power. #inclusivebooks #representationmatters

I'm working on something in light of the good literary agency's demise. Writers of colour hold on to hope and keep writing your stories. The world needs them more than ever!

Gutted to see this about @thegoodagencyuk in @thebookseller. The Agency did such important work, which is very much still needed. And I know how tough redundancy is. Not sure what I can do, but do DM if you want to talk. #BookTwitter #PublishingIndustry thebookseller.com/news/the-good-…

Shocked. My heart goes out to everyone who will lose out from this - agents, writers, or others. I’m especially devastated for the under-represented writers who have recently signed with the agency. 6 years of ££ support for an innovative arts business is short-term thinking.

I am so sorry to read this but what amazing things you achieved. We will miss you. I hope this industry takes to heart what Nikesh said: While we’re closing, and I’m devastated that we have to do this, we turn to the industry and ask you: what are you going to do now we’re not…

There isn’t a trick to being an author. You: -read lots -write lots (not for output but to exercise writing muscles) -cry some -innovate in how you publish & sell -keep coming back to the fun of writing even when it sucks -find work & relationships that support you -chocolate

thank you so much Sarah - and to Radhika for her child's eye view. It means so much to have thoughts from the readership it was written for!
