My book is now out in paperback! It is a comparative perspective on early cities, from a social-science perspective (population, economics, politics). I cover both top-down & bottom-up influences on urban life. 29 case studies, and many illustrations. bit.ly/40iU33d

The founding document of iHOPE ("Intergrated history & future of people on earth") had a chapter on data quality, by Costanza. Without data quality measures, he said, we can't reach the goals of iHOPE. So, why do later iHOPE publications not cite this, or discuss data quality?

🪷 We are relieved to see that the original terracotta figure survived ... we thought it had been smashed to pieces at Mt. Rushmore in the climactic final scenes of #Hitchcock's "North By Northwest." Carried here (with microfilm inside) by James Mason with wary Martin Landau. 🪷
