Clear skies at last on Sunday at Blackheath - a calm, relaxed session with lovely views of the Pleiades, Saturn, Jupiter and even the season’s first look at the Orion Nebula. Fewer visitors meant longer chats and plenty of time at the eyepiece. Full report:…

A big thank you to everyone who visited our solar viewing session at the Royal Observatory Greenwich today! 🌞 Cloudy skies gave way to spectacular views of the Sun – including some of the biggest prominences we’ve seen this year. Next event: Fri 11 or Sat 12 July.

Lots of images have come in from Flamsteed members across the country of last night’s incredible aurora display. An extraordinary night, the second major display in the last 4 months. The Sun is certainly giving us a show, nearing the peak of this solar cycle!

While the cloud cover wasn’t our friend tonight, I managed to get a quick snapshot of the partial lunar eclipse with just a hand-held camera. It’s not the clearest image, but sometimes it’s about the moment rather than perfection! #PartialLunarEclipse
