The 1998 Minnesota Gubernatorial Election brought a political outsider, Jessie Ventura, to office. Ventura did best in the twin cities, only finishing third in the City of Duluth. The east end region (Congdon, and Hunters Park neighborhoods) gave their biggest support to the GOP.

1978 saw a conservative revolt, and in MN would become the infamous "Minnesota Massacre". An early warning sign was when DFL-endorsed candidate Don Fraser lost the primary to replace the late Hubert Humphrey to Bob Short, owner of the Minneapolis Lakers and Twins. 🧵

Never before seen! The 1920 Presidential election in Duluth and the Iron Range. Harding won thanks to strong results from middle/upper class voters and mining towns. Cox did better in working class and railroad towns. Debs did best in logging towns.

On Tuesday, Saint Paul voters approved a ballot question to increase the sales tax by a 60-40 margin. The proposal to increase the tax by 1% is to help fund infrastructure like the city's poor roads. It did best in the 4th Ward and worst in the 6th and 7th, barely winning.

St. Paul Minnesota had city council elections last night, and in the hotly contested 3rd Ward, DFL-endorsed Saura Jost nearly swept the race, almost winning outright on the 1st round. The race was fought on housing, infrastructure, and the Summit Ave project.
