Hopefully when the pandemic is over, more adults will understand what kids know. Attending school is not about a building, being in a room on time, grades, completion, or any kind of compliance, but about learning.

Kids don’t learn when you tell them something. They don’t even learn when they experience something. Learning happens when kids reflect on what is communicated and experienced. Reflection should be a ongoing practice in every classroom.

Children are not low, average, or advanced. Students are thinkers & approach problems in a variety of ways. We should describe them, not label them. Labels set up expectations which can limit us as teachers and our ability to work with our students.
In a multimodal curriculum, manipulatives can help students with learning disabilities to achieve the highest levels of mathematical thinking. Manipulatives are *not* a crutch. - @mathematize4all at Seattle #NCTMRegionals
