Welcome to the @desmosclassroom family Cohort 5! 👏🏽 🥳 🙌🏽 @Amplify #DesmosFellowsWeekend #iTeachMath #MTBoS
What allows a shape to tesselate? What is a tessellation? Do all tessellations come for a translation? What other ways can you build a tessellation? Ss really enjoyed this activity.
Ss are applying their knowledge of the Pythagorean theorem to solve questions that requires a lot of thinking. Their conversations sound like music to my teacher ears.
When it comes to transformations on the coordinate plane, having patty paper for Ss to visualize rotations, reflections, and translations is a huge help! 💚
I love @openmiddle tasks that help students think deeply about the concepts we've covered. #NorthsideUnstoppable
I love when my students get to see how their peers approach the same problem. It was a great Monday! #NorthsideUnstoppable
My geometry students are having fun creating models of intersecting planes. They thought it was cool that two lines will never intersect and yet they would not be considered parallel. #NorthsideUnstoppable #MSGeometryClass #PointsLinesandPlanes
It is going to be a great school year! I've got some phenomenal student's who are ready to share their knowledge with peers! 💜💛#NISDunstoppable
Here my Ss worked on "Scary Reunion" a task that requires them to use the Pythagorean theorem, calculate speed, and make predictions. They did great! 🦈🦈
Here is a TomTom puzzle activity you can try with your students. Great for MS or HS students looking for a challenge. #mtbos #iteachmath teacher.desmos.com/activitybuilde…
Here is a fun one slide puzzle for your MS students who would want a challenge. If you are aiming for productive struggle you might like this! 🤓teacher.desmos.com/activitybuilde…
Today my Ss worked on an @openmiddle task with groups at the whiteboards and their collaboration made my teacher heart full!
My students always love the surface area of a sphere activity. One student told me that orange peels are good for your skin so we of course had to test that theory. 🤓🍊
I love that my students are gaining a deep understanding of the relationship between the volume of a cylinder compared to a cone! 🥰😎
Not sure why I never thought to do this sooner. I offered extra credit for Ss to send a video of themselves solving a trig question must have audio and steps for their process. These videos fill my heart with joy! Listening to their voice use math language is gold! #iteachmath
We had a blast today with some Math/Holiday trivia on Desmos. Students were on teams, they got to wager points, and they had an engaging day before break! See you all in 2025! #IteachMath #iTeachGeometry teacher.desmos.com/activitybuilde…
Market Days at @NISDGarcia is a sight to behold. These students are future entrepreneurs and leaders. I love seeing my students outside of my classroom. #iteachmath
Algebra tiles are a great way for students to have a concrete experience with an abstract concept. Magnetic algebra tiles are fantastic if you can find some. You could always laminate colored paper and glue the magnet on the back too. #iteachmath
I had a great time last night at @NISDSteubing supporting their STEM night with my dad. We shared big takeaways about cyberspace, internet use, and how to have good 'netiquette'. 💻🛜
