Shocking discovery of Trees growing in Arctic Tundra 100 years ahead of what was predicted by climate models shows global warming is advancing much faster than even most dire predictions of climate models Without white Tundra to reflect heat back into space, even more warming

Another discussion about alternatives to GDP growth to save the planet from an imminent catastrophe

1. Emissions must fall immediately in 2022 to avoid exceeding both world-shaking 1.5°C & catastrophic 2°C. But they're rising. Of course scientists are all alarmed. The public deserves to know the IPCC has started pointing to alternatives to GDP growth. bbc.com/news/science-e…

I’ve spent the last 1.5 years researching the climate benefits of “clean” #hydrogen. Here are 10 things I’ve learned: 1/ Conventional wisdom is WRONG. Hydrogen (H2) made from renewables and water is not inherently climate neutral and can still contribute to climate change.

A mind-blowing news story virtually ignored by state/corporate media: climate scientists say emissions must peak this year to avoid catastrophic 1.5°C/2°C of global warming but economic growth means emissions are surging apocalyptically. 🧵

Hard to believe I am even writing this. UK obliterates the all-time heat record and hits an eye-watering 40.3°C (104.5 °F), unusually far north in Coningsby. Shocking to watch the heat emergency unfold, even though this was forecast days ago. Another thread...

Agriculture cannot survive at 50C+ soil temperatures for very long. Civilization cannot survive long without modern agriculture- connect the dots. On current trajectory this doesn’t end well. #heatwave

Faculty are 25 times more likely to have a parent with a PhD. I just remembered that when I was a kid, our window AC unit leaked onto our carpet and a giant mushroom appeared overnight. If you're 1st gen and you also had a mushroom in your living room I see you.

Oldest house in France. It's found in Aveyron, built in 13th century and belonged to a Jeanne. Ground floor is a little smaller than upstairs because in those times you only paid taxes on occupied land, so everyone built like this. #archaeohistories

Scientific peer review: so essential to evaluate and scrutinise validity, originality, quality of research... but increasingly flawed... The traditional journals are under threat from new models, some that are (semi-)predatory, and focus on speed not value of peer-review but 1/
