If you see all Palestinians and Israelies, respectively, as the enemy who deserve to be "flattened," "crushed," and collectively punished then you are part of the problem and lose whatever moral ground you had, assuming you had any in the first place.
It isn't hard to call out Hamas as an extremist movement that has committed atrocities. Not hard to call out the Israeli government's brutal occupation of Palestinians in Gaza that has led to suffering. The fact some hedge, flinch, pause, make excuses says a lot. None of it good.

Supporting Palestinian freedom is not at all synonymous to supporting Hamas. If that’s where your head goes, you are doing a disservice to Palestinians and aiding propaganda.
People trying to justify/minimize Hamas’s murder of likely hundreds of Israeli civilians aren’t just being morally repugnant but actively harm any notion of the Palestinian cause. You cannot equivocate on the intentional mass murder of peaceful civilians. It’s not hard
