When I was in 4th grade, my favorite teacher left teaching to go into nursing; we became pen pals for a few years afterwards and have reconnected on FB. Now I’m taking a break from teaching to become a student and my favorite student and I exchange emails.

Fitchburg Family Pharmacy posted on Facebook that in response to the overturning of Roe v. Wade they have stocked Plan B, emergency contraception, are selling it at cost and are also "happy to provide these to our community members even if they cannot pay."

It’s wild to me how few of my male colleagues in education have said much of anything in the last week in support of the erosion of healthcare, including the right to an abortion. And, if you don’t have the words, we need to get them, however imperfectly. It’s go time.

This summer, my second hiatus comes to an end. I’m starting my new journey as edu consultant with @CurriculumAssoc. I spent this last week with an amazing team of educators at PD Academy and am so excited for what’s to come in the next few months.

Some US Muslims, especially in positions of leadership, have openly embraced the Evangelical Right’s positions on a few social issues - such as abortion. Islamic laws around abortion aren’t “pro-choice” (per what it means in this country) but they aren’t “pro-life” either.

If you’re a reporter, don’t you dare call this a victory for religious people. Millions of us just had *our* religious freedom stolen.

Maybe someday, women in America will have as many rights as guns do.

Forced birth in a country that doesn’t have mandatory maternity leave or universal healthcare…

If this was about babies, there would be universal healthcare. Free education. Free daycare. Southern states would be doing all they can to drop the Black maternal mortality rate. This is about power and control

“…many critics have taken to social media to condemn the draft opinion as “Christian sharia.” Using sharia as shorthand for religiously oppressive laws is not only Islamophobic, it’s flat-out wrong — including when it comes to abortion.” sfchronicle.com/opinion/openfo…

Pfizer's COVID-19 vaccine does not contain fetal cells, as social media posts have falsely claimed. The erroneous claim distorts the facts of how the vaccine, like many other medications, was tested. Get the facts from @AP. apne.ws/zTFss0D

Can you imagine if last night’s catastrophe happened while school was in session? Flooded hallways, dirty drinking water, depleted staff, and student living conditions would spell disaster for our most vulnerable students. Infrastructure and climate change are school issues.

If you’re comparing the Texas abortion laws to ✨Sharia Law✨ enjoy this thread from when this same talking point came up when ACB was appointed to SCOTUS. Using anything Islam & Muslim as a rhetorical measure of “bad” or “barbaric” is actually pretty bigoted.

Criticizing Amy Coney Barrett's religious fundamentalism thru the prism of Islam is a wonderful exercise in making Islam the default "fundamentalism" used as the barometer to judge Christian fundamentalism or white supremacy, as though we don't have a history of either in the US.
