What are the risks and benefits of using AI in courts? Last week, @NorthwesternLaw's @DanLinna and @northwesterneng / @BuffettInst's @vssubrah gathered a group of judges, court administrators, & law practitioners to investigate.
We ended #ICAIL2025 Day 2 with a conference dinner at Beatrix honoring the late Dr. Trevor Bench-Capon and Dr. Karl Branting for their incredible contributions and mentorship in the LegalTech space and celebrating the recipients of the conference awards. Now off to day 3!
Is AI reasoning? Professor Daniel Katz (first author of “GPT-4 Passes the Bar Exam”) argued at #ICAIL2025 that the capabilities of AI models evoke philosophical questions like: “What constitutes reasoning?” Instead, we should consider whether the tool is actually useful.
