Ach ja, hier geht's jetzt übrigens auf Deutsch weiter. Touhou ist sowas von durch.

Please see rec98.nmlgc.net/faq#tsa-takedo…. Also, you're always just two Git clones away from your own full backup of the entire project. Then, you can keep circulating all the content independently of how I'm forced to handle a potential takedown. Please make use of that!

For the past 20 years of Touhou history, the OST was OK to post to YouTube. This is ZUN's legal manager not claiming, but REMOVING OST uploads (image sent to me on Discord) Things like these shake the trust that fans have in ZUN at their very core. #touhou

Meh, should have gone with "JPEG XL is the Rust of modern image formats".

JPEG XL is the most beloved image format these days. Technically impressive, winning benchmarks everywhere, and you can't help but root for it after it lost browser support. Let's use it for screenshots in Shuusou Gyoku! Except that lossless WebP compresses them much better?

OK, TH02 bullet hitboxes. As usual, they are best visualized using the specific shape of each bullet type. A bullet only hits Reimu if every pixel of its sprite lies within the indicated area. TH02 makes this easy by only having five different shapes and no directional ones:

How to find the path to the C++23 `std` module: • MSVC: %VCToolsInstallDir%\modules\std.ixx, easy • Clang: Forcing build systems to now include or depend on a JSON parser 🙄

What's next? Current backer interest is divided between Shuusou Gyoku, TH03, and TH02, and I've got quite a bit of free capacity again. Perfect opportunity to join in and accelerate these goals, or fund something else entirely.

Been a while since I made a TikTok.

The old no-echo versions are now strictly preserved for reference purposes, because we've now got pretty strong evidence that the panning delay effect is canon and intentional:

Glad to see the TH19 netplay mod getting updated for v1.10c! And that progre is accepting your financial support: github.com/sponsors/progre

If you ever decide to rebrand thcrap, I suggest removing the Touhou part, not the crap part.

The thcrap core injects generic Unicode support for several non-Unicode Windows APIs, without needing program-specific knowledge. While it is a lucky coincidence that this is all it needs for WolfRPG translations to work, I did design thcrap for such a coincidence to be possible.

Nmlgc reposted

In my experience the netplay has been substantially better. In the old version, I couldn't even play with someone in a different country within Europe. Now I can. This is a massive step up (not like the bar was very high though)

Sure, it helps that they halve the amount of emulated processors needed to run the games, but it's still far from native. On period-correct systems this induces a harsh performance penalty because the RSP is a fast vector processing engine, while SIMD was just becoming a thing.

Nmlgc reposted

What people don't understand about *all* of these N64 recomp/porting projects is that they still use HLE and LLE. They still have to abstract Fast3D to a modern API, and the audio engines are just being run on an emulated RSP as-is. Not once was a DSound/XAudio/OpenAL rework done
