Focus on what’s absolutely needed to meet the business goals of the site and remove everything else. Make sure everything is compatible with modern PHP (8+). Then deploy on a modern hosting stack with @ObjectCachePro/@RelayPHP, auto scaling, and plenty of resources for the site.
