Und dann kam die Pandemie. Und dann kam der Krieg. Wer gehofft hatte, nach Corona könnten Klimaschutz und Schutz der Ökosysteme endlich richtig losgehen, endlich die gebührende Aufmerksamkeit erhalten, hat sich getäuscht. Müssen wir also auf "das Ende der Geschichte" warten?

Die Moderne gilt als Zeitalter der Geschwindigkeit. Trotzdem wird sie vielleicht – siehe Corona, siehe Klimawandel, siehe Artenschwund – wegen ihrer Langsamkeit im Gedächtnis bleiben. Heute musste ich an eine Stelle aus “Negative Moderne” denken:
Was, wenn unsere Freiheit uns tötet? Was, wenn unsere Freiheit Milliarden anderen die Freiheit, das Leben nimmt? Unsere Freiheit, ungeimpft zu bleiben. Unsere Freiheit, weiter Autos mit Verbrennungsmotor zu bauen, mit Kohle zu heizen, zu fliegen, täglich Rindfleisch zu essen.

👏 Eine Ergänzung: Es ist ein Irrsinn, dass wir nur über Klimawandel reden. Der rasante Schwund von Tier- und Pflanzenbeständen (Tiere: durchschnittlich 70% seit 1970) hat (noch) so gut wie nichts mit Klima zu tun. Die Rettung der Ökosysteme muss auch in den Koalitionsvertrag!
In Kürze wird der neue Koalitionsvertrag veröffentlicht, lasst uns davor einmal über Erwartungen sprechen: Früher wäre ein Koalitionsvertrag etwa dann ein Erfolg, wenn er möglichst effizient die Positionen von SPD, FDP & Grünen vereinen würde. Heute reicht das nicht mehr. 1/
