Just remember, Albertans. We're not trapped in this province with the MAGA racists. They're trapped in this province with us.

Agree 100%, @RajSherman — 'Immigrants did not break Alberta’s healthcare system... Politicians did.' Time to own the planning failures and build the beds, LTC, and housing we need. Unity over scapegoating. Thank you for this perspective from the front lines.

Dear Fellow Albertans, This letter is written not as a partisan, but as an emergency physician who has cared for more than 100,000 Albertans, a former MLA, and someone who has devoted a working life to this province. Across Alberta, the strain is obvious. Housing is scarce.

Alberta would have to open 11 new hospitals just to catch up to the Canadian average. Danielle would rather blame immigrants and Ottawa than take responsibility and act.

Alberta once had 11,700 hospital beds for 2.7 million people = 4.3 beds per 1,000 After the Klein cutbacks, we fell to 2.4 beds per 1,000 Today we have ~8,800 beds for 5 million people = 1.76 beds per 1,000 And of those beds, 1,200–1,400 are occupied by ALC patients (Fragile

Alberta would need 11 new hospitals to get us up to the Canadian average. So let’s not get too wrapped up in blaming immigrants. Our own government has been negligent and hasn’t built the infrastructure we deserve. Start building, stop blaming immigrants.

TL;DR: Alberta would need 11 hospitals in Edmonton and Calgary to be resourced to the Canadian average. 1/6 🏥 Why is Alberta’s healthcare system under such strain? It’s not "management"—it’s a numbers problem 40 years in the making. Let’s look at the data. 🧵 #AbLeg #CdnHealth

A reminder: Smith's government has seen the highest real, per capita resource revenue outside of the governments of Lougheed and Klein. To blame immigration because you can't manage a resource boom is awful. She literally "called" for people to come her and for high immigration.

Immigrants are not Alberta’s problem. They’re here legally. They’re the ones serving you coffee at Timmies. Populist governments need a scapegoat, an “out-group”. For Hitler it was Jews, for Trump it’s Latinos. It’s an un-Canadian and deplorable political strategy. #ableg

Recently, UCP government advertised that “Alberta is open for business”, wanting to grow Alberta’s population to 10 million by 2030. Now, influx on new Canadians is blamed for overcrowded hospitals, schools, and deficit. In reality, mismanagement is the culprit, not immigrants.
