Everywhere you look, there's a sense of a country teetering on the brink of something awful. I've been speaking to people about their concerns every day for 20 years & never known anything like it. The fundamental awfulness of the politicians in charge scares the sh*t out of me.

Jacob Rees Mogg - has rebelled against the Tory whip almost 100 times in nine years. Is rewarded by being appointed Leader of the House of Commons. David Gauke - has never rebelled against the Tory whip in 14 years. Is rewarded with expulsion from the party.
Strange that a decision has been made to remove the whip from so many colleagues who were ministers so recently. Particularly when we voted repeatedly for a Brexit deal. I can’t think of a historical precedent. But I am not stepping down as an MP.
For the first time in 14 years as an MP I voted against the Conservative Party whip. That whip has now been withdrawn. If tonight’s motion had been lost, a no deal Brexit would have been almost inevitable. Probably not a good career move but the right choice.
As a cancer specialist who is very worried about the effects of a no deal #Brexit on current & future patients, I’m very grateful to the brave Tory rebels who voted against the Government tonight. This was literally a life saving vote. Let’s hope for more of the same tomorrow
