Protect Our Care and our health care advocates partnered with @nowthisnews for a special #ACAat12 video featuring the one and only @BarackObama. Watch below to witness their surprise:
Former President @BarackObama surprised advocates & beneficiaries of the Affordable Care Act with a call to honor the plan's 12th anniversary — watch the heartwarming conversations here (with @ProtectOurCare)
The tax credits that make health insurance affordable for over 20 million Americans should be made PERMANENT.
Health care premiums are spiking across the country 📈 Here's just one example: this plan for a 60-year-old couple making $85,000 in Buhl, Idaho, will cost $1,673 MORE PER MONTH in 2026 than a very similar plan in 2025. 💸

As the shutdown dominates headlines, Americans say they trust Democrats in Congress to protect health care — not the congressional Republicans pushing cuts.

We'll keep posting graphics showing how much costs will rise in every single Republican district if they don't extend the ACA subsidies. Follow along. Folks in Rep. James Comer's district (KY-01) would have to pay an extra $16,199 each year.

Premium increases notices will soon arrive in the mailboxes of Americans all over the US. The average increase? 114%. For some, the numbers are even higher: A couple making $129,000 with two adult children at home in Savannah, GA, will pay $3,150 more per month for insurance.

I spoke to an Arizonan who could see her premiums go from $250 to over $1,000 a month. She said: “I’m not looking for a handout, I’m looking for a hand up.”
Idaho families could see premiums jump from $611 to $2,083 a month if Republicans refuse to work with Democrats to save the health care tax credits. That's an increase of $1,472 a month for the SAME plan. Republicans won’t talk about it but Democrats refuse to let that happen.

Senator Tim Kaine: Anyone is worried about losing health care coverage, but if you're a cancer survivor, the prospect of losing your health insurance or seeing your premiums go sky high is very troubling
"For Leanne and millions of others, sticker shock is now setting in as notices come out this month outlining what next year's premiums will be."
Let Me Be Blunt: this isn’t business as usual. Republicans shut down the government and are refusing to negotiate. They’re even holding committee hearings on everything BUT their shutdown. This week, I used my time in those hearings to remind them what’s really at stake.
Republican Voter: I am begging you to pass this legislation. My kids could die. We don't have the credit because of the medical bills that I have to pay regularly. You could stop this, and you could be the one who could say military is getting paid, and I think that it is awful,…
Steve Rattner explains: There are now 24.2 million people enrolled in these marketplaces. Where was the biggest increase over the last few years? It was in red states: a 157% increase in the number of people in the marketplaces.
Don’t let the GOP’s lies fool you: undocumented immigrants can’t get Medicaid, Medicare, or Obamacare. The only way in which the federal govt might pay for their healthcare is through ERs, which are required to give emergency care to all people. Medicaid reimburses hospitals for…

Healthcare premiums are about to double across America. Georgia 📈 +$2,064 Idaho 📈 +$1,472 Maryland📈 +$1,089 Nevada📈 +$1,425 New York📈 +$1,111 Virginia📈 +$1,342 In these same states, billionaires are set to get six-figure tax breaks. THIS is what the shutdown is about.
Health care premiums are spiking across the country 📈 This plan for a 60-year-old couple making $85,000 in Fulton County, Georgia, will cost $2,064 MORE PER MONTH in 2026 than a very similar plan in 2025. 💸

1.4 million Georgians could see their premiums skyrocket next year if ACA subsidies expire.
WV resident: If the ACA's tax credits go away, I’ll simply go without. I won’t have health insurance, and I won’t go to the doctor because I can’t afford to. That’s what this fight means—life or death for real people.
West Virginia resident: “If these enhanced tax credits expire, my monthly premiums will nearly double.” She’s not alone. Across the country, families are opening letters from insurers showing skyrocketing costs because Congress hasn’t acted.
“Americans are literally living in the midst of a shutdown that jeopardizes their health care, their jobs, and the services they rely on.” Senator @SenLBR is right — people need solutions, not shutdowns.
Most people don’t lie awake thinking about government spending. They’re thinking about whether they can afford insulin, child care, or next month’s bills. As @woodhouseb told @JoyannReid — that’s the fight that actually matters.
