What do the safest places to walk and cycle on earth teach us about decreasing traffic injuries? Darkness is a distraction; helmets and high-vis are a red herring. Cities that actually want to save lives are reducing, slowing and segregating the motor vehicles on their streets.

hey, @CaltransD5, who do we need to talk to about protected bike lines in Monterey County? Specifically on hwy 68 between toro park/Spreckels and Salinas?
These intersections are usually where the bike path just disappears and melds into the roadway where you fight for position with cars...
All it takes is one dangerous intersection to stop someone from walking or cycling an entire journey. Connectivity is key.
