Be sure to check out our blog post to get some context around our purpose. Remember, all I am offering is the truth (about trash in SF) refuserefusesf.org/blog/f/remembe…
7 volunteers from @SFEnvironment came out to pick up cigarette filters around City Hall; we filled this big bag of butts that Mayor @DanielLurie agreed was disgusting. We took it to each Supervisor’s office encouraging them to support a ban on single-use plastic filters in SF.
On Giving Tuesday, this group from @discord and local neighborhood volunteers gave 90 minutes of their time to pick up 20 bags of litter at the Miraloma Cleanup this morning. More money won’t keep SF clean, but we can just by showing up. Thank you all that do!
Thankful for all our trashy friends that came out over the Thanksgiving weekend to help clean; 425 volunteers removed 450+ bags of trash from San Francisco neighborhoods, parks, and beaches. Feeling the Holiday spirit of giving back? Cleanups are easy and make a big impact.
Surprising turnout for a Wednesday before Thanksgiving, but we had 18 volunteers roll through the Masonic Cleanup this morning. @sfpublicworks on the spot to pickup the trash bags we filled. Continued amazement at how clean the area has become with this regular attention.
Thank you to the 450 volunteers who geared up and cleared 470+ bags of trash at 24 citywide cleanups in San Francisco this past weekend. Yet, we can do even better SF! If you haven't joined a cleanup, or joined one in a while, come on out to be part of our Trashy Community!
Thank you to all the neighbors in Lower Haight who came out today to keep our streets clean! Much appreciation to Molly Hayden, @LowerHaightSF, @CivicJoyFund, @RefuseRefuseSF for organizing today's cleanup, and all you do for our community.
Morning cleanup with the sophomore class from the Sterne School. We roamed as a litter picking pack through North Beach and Chinatown cleaning everything on our path. These students have 20 hrs of community service this year and you’ll see them out at a neighborhood cleanup.
After pausing the workdays rehabbing Battery Chester in Fort Miley due to the government shutdown, we came back with a bang thanks to regular volunteers and a group from @CluneGC who came out to dig out mud from the rains and paint over the graffiti that had built back up. 🙏🏽
Extra clean in all directions from the Trader Joe’s on Masonic thanks to our regular weekly volunteers and this group from @cisco who came out to help. Retirees, students, companies, and everyone in between showing up for SF and making it cleaner for all. TY!
We dodged the rain and none of the 32 scheduled cleanups in San Francisco had to be cancelled. And we had some astounding turnouts, 550 volunteers removed 610 bags of trash, including 90 at Lower Nob Hill and 60 at Manny's. The visual of the community & clean streets is beauty!
Cleared 40 storm drains along Balboa and Anza. Half were clear the other half varying degrees of clogged, a few had even been cleared by another drain parent. The season of adopting a drain near you is here! Join the @MySFPUC Adopt-A-Drain program and name your very own!
A great day of service on Veterans Day with a cleanup along Lombard St in Cow Hollow/Marina with SF Waldorf High School students, then at the Richmond Library with community and student volunteers. Thank you to all that serve!
This past weekend, 580 volunteers cleaned up 630+ bags of worth of litter at 26 individual (but together) neighborhood cleanups in San Francisco. Always amazed at the incredibly consistent turnouts citywide, but we're always searching for more people to join us!
Student athletes from @usfca showed up this morning and brought their A game to a neighborhood cleanup we organized. Their competitive nature took hold and they cleared 86 bags of trash. Dons for the win!
Is anything cuter or more inspiring than 40 second graders excited to clean up San Francisco streets? Students from SF Day School fanned out from their school in NOPA to pick up litter. Even the tiniest hands can make a big difference.
Big thanks to this big group from @EY_US and a group from @Kilroyrealty who came out this morning to clean Ocean Beach. Many hands making light work, 24 very full bags of trash and thousand of cigarette butts removed from the environment. Nicely done!
A true team effort today at the One Richmond Cleanup. 5 volunteers including a student from Holy Name and employee from @usfca, and local residents picked up litter. We ran into a @sfpublicworks corridor ambassador sweeping trash and another who picked up our trash bags.
Our Cleanup Captains from District 3 received a commendation from the Board of Supervisors and @DannySauter for their tireless work leading other volunteers keeping Chinatown, Nob Hill, North Beach, Russian Hill, and the Embarcadero clean. Nice to receive the recognition!
Joined a cleanup organized by the @SFSU Dining Services sustainability team, where 8 volunteers fanned out to clean around campus. They are focused on proper sorting in their dining halls and created this handy guide teaching the basics.
Out with the team from @YCDjobs in the Bayview again to cleanup and show some love to the community. 15 of us filled 24 bags of trash and there is a lot of need here. Please join the 3rd Street Cleanup hosted by All Good Pizza every Saturday from 10am-11am.
