How they determined Candidates in the 1970s. Portisch, Geller & Polugaevsky shared 2nd-4th place in the Interzonal tournament in Petropolis (Brazil). A quadruple-round(!) all-play-all was held in Portorož (Yugoslavia), lasting 16 days. Geller was eliminated.
