Restoring Classical Music (Jess Kady)
@RestoreClass
Let's equip the next generation of art music composers with the equipment and technology they need to produce high-quality music!
Who is living right now that will be remembered with the same civilizational energy as Chopin or Beethoven?
High art in the West has been a joke for last 50 years. It's not to say that we need living artists to copy the greats exactly, but there's an obvious gap in greatness right now. There's an empty throne for a modern incarnation of Mozart of Chopin or Rembrandt.
I was dumbfounded in front of the Beirstadt painting in the DC Portrait Gallery. It's stunning in person. It's like 10 feet wide, absolutely massive, and the lighting skill is remarkable.
What is the greatest work of art you have ever stood in front of?
Who is writing classical music right now in the light of the Western tradition? Give me suggestions if you know if any!
We need a Renaissance of Westernist art. Most decent people I know actively avoid art museums and don't have the foggiest about classical music. If there was good, true, beautiful, and worthwhile pieces being elevated, that might change.
Imagine the level of societal conditioning that needs to occur in order to convince you that the colour samples on the left are of equal merit to the piece on the right. Now consider what else the machinery of such conditioning could be configured to make you believe.
It’s astounding how many viscerally angry reactions Rothko precipitates! Why do you think ppl are so incensed in the face of simple & profound art? Is it jealousy that the work appears so “easily” made? Perhaps, simple truths & simple beauties are all the more alienating?
I am calling for a complete and total shutdown of modern art until we can figure out what the hell is going on.
What living composers, or even recently passed, have the same civilizational energy as Mozart, Tchaikovsky, or Bach? John Williams perhaps has the most. I can't think of any more.
Elevate your knowledge of classical music beyond "Rush E" and Disney movie soundtracks. Not trying to be condescending, just saying, if you like those, you'll love the original inspiration for those!
For a very long time, modern/contemporary art has been almost entirely about distancing from the Western tradition. This is not controversial; the artists will say this explicitly.
The Emperor has had no clothes on for a long time. Very few in the academic level or higher levels of the art world are willing to question the modern art stranglehold.
Notice the statue of David attracts millions of visitors. Meanwhile, the modern art exhibits are empty. True art inspires.
This is definitely a candidate for the greatest piano piece of all time. It is the height of Chopin. youtu.be/2cv7diE0ZMc?si…
