One of the most unaware statements I hear: "I'M JUST DOING A PLAIN READING OF THE TEXTS." My dude, you can't do a plain reading of 2,000- to 4,000-year-old ancient texts, written in multiple dead languages, from cultures not your own, when you can barely handle English.
Balance your checkbook every month. Not check the balance. Not try to figure out what's still processing. Take the monthly statement and make it tie to your check register. Which btw, is probably also something no one under 40 knows about.
