You don’t get to stoke the fire at the beginning of the tournament by labelling our anti-racism message as ‘Gesture Politics’ & then pretend to be disgusted when the very thing we’re campaigning against, happens.
I am disgusted that @England players who have given so much for our country this summer have been subject to vile racist abuse on social media. It has no place in our country and I back the police to hold those responsible accountable.
You gave these racists license and were on their side - not the side of the players - a few weeks ago. Your government gaslights black Britons by saying that structural racism doesn’t exist and your own history of racist remarks speaks for itself. You are part of the problem.
This England team deserve to be lauded as heroes, not racially abused on social media. Those responsible for this appalling abuse should be ashamed of themselves.
Let me be clear. The Prime Minister and the Home Secretary gave license to the racists who booed the England players and are now racially abusing England players. @BorisJohnson and @pritipatel are like arsonists complaining about a fire they poured petrol on. Total hypocrites.
Don’t dwell on what could’ve been, focus on what can be.
I’m more outraged that one of the abusers that left a mountain of monkey emojis in my DM is a maths teacher with an open profile. He teaches children!! And knows that he can freely racially abuse without consequence…

Watching the news tonight it is quite obvious that the test and trace system, that the govt has put its faith in, is working very well with two exceptions. 1. Test 2. Trace.
