Tactical Analysis: Ajax vs Borussia Dortmund runningtheshowblog.wordpress.com/2021/10/21/tac…
Training idea - individual finishing session Four attackers finishing from different situations. Using defenders to trick goalkeepers & adapting to movements by defenders. A @KimHellberg1 special. Working against coaches here.
Training idea - individual defensive training This design by @KimHellberg1 focuses on different scenarios our defenders can find themselves in. The video includes match examples of the different actions trained in the exercise. Breakdown of the moments involved @spiideo ⬇️⬇️
One of my favorite details of some Allsvenskan grounds having @spiideo cameras behind the goals is that we can analyze and evaluate goal kicks, which we place a huge importance on, from more angles than only the sideline
Still buzzing about Saturday. So proud of our players and the confidence and quality they play with. For both goals, winning the ball in our own box and calmly playing out to create 3v2s higher up. @ifkvmo
This spell probably one of the most impressive for me
Building on this - these clips highlight more of what I'm so proud about. To go and do this in Stockholm - especially after that 15-minute spell midway through when we were in trouble - is special. This group of players, so good! @ifkvmo

One-two training to game transfer One element of our attacking play we really like is the use of one-twos (or tabelas as Wenderson taught us). From playing as kids, a good tabela is lovely to pull off. Here's an example of training to game transfer from our players
Training idea - passing drills Lately, we've been tinkering with passing drills with passive opposition for the players to adapt to and base decisions on. We often use coaches in such situations, but in this one we used players. Lots of technical details in a tiny context
Training idea - 6v3 'cone' exercise In this exercise, we have three teams of three players. There is a central square and four triangular cones on each side of the square. Two teams play, one team defends. Rules ⬇️⬇️⬇️
Finishing practice - finishing from different situations As part of an individual session the other day, @KimHellberg1 ran this technical finishing exercise. This session followed an 11v11 team session in the morning, so this was all technical only working against coaches
Finally, we have begun to improve in this aspect which is nice to see. Especially, we see how the players are interacting and solving problems together in creative ways. These two attacks highlight that - with a goal against Hammarby and a chance against Malmö.
Training thread - high build up games (10v9/10v10) One situation we have had (and definitely still need) to improve is our play in the phase we call high build up. Here, we share some ideas and our thoughts to hopefully inspire other people's thinking.
Training idea - situational build up game 4+4v4 In this game, we aim to create a situation in which the players must adapt to different numbers of pressers in order to progress the ball. After beating one presser, two can go, then three and finally four. Rules below
Defensive points: * Dealing with numerical disadvantage * Using cover shadows * Recovery runs * Triggers & tricks to gain advantages Attacking points: * Changes of rhythm, baiting press * Finding break out spaces and breaking flow of the press * Third man combinations
Situational exercise - small-sided pressing game 4v4+2 GKs GKs as jokers with one as a goalkeeper and one as an attacking wall-player (roles switch when the other team is in possession)
Training idea - 4 (+1) v 4 (+1) + 2 box game This one is a development on the 2v2/3v3 box games I've shared before. Teams play 4v4 in the space and have one attacking player as a wall at the end of the pitch. Two jokers down the sides in assigned corridors
Training idea - vertical 4+3 v 4+3 @KimHellberg1 ran this small-sided game with a vertical focus. 4v4 in the space with three attacking players to use as wall players or as runners in behind. One finishing space for each team to attack in different ways. Our rules below ⬇️⬇️
Training idea - 2v1 back to goal exercise Did this drill in a session last week since we often end up in situations where opponents go tight on us and we need to solve those situations. Very simple design working on 4 things: 1. Back pass 2. Protect and pass 3. Turn 4. Flick on
We then removed the cones and did this 4v4+2 game inside the circle. Still, the mannequins are there to encourage intensively moving in and out of spaces to get the ball and progress it forward. Again, it's all about interpreting the movements and the situations that appear.
