Given the continued uptick in activity and the frequent misunderstanding/misinformation when it comes to solar flares vs CMEs, I finally finished creating graphics for each to easily show the varying differences between the two phenomena and their impacts. ☀️

Me at concerts (or literally anywhere for that matter) checking space weather data after getting a @_SpaceWeather_ notification

My mom took Tylenol when she was pregnant and now she has a daughter that watches radarscope at concerts

This week marks my 5 year work anniversary as a space wx forecaster. 🥹 The Sun has really put me through it the past 5 years, but I am thankful I've gotten to start off my career in such an incredible way, working through both solar min & solar max. Oct 8, 2020 ➡️ Oct 8, 2025

Every time there is a decent geomagnetic storm and someone asks if I went out to see the aurora: Maybe it's because I'm lame, maybe it's because of shift work, but if I can't actually see it with my eyes as opposed to just via camera, I don't care enough.

Happy Monday! Busy start to the week with growing active regions, an increase in solar flare and radio burst activity, and a pop of geomagnetic activity! 😮‍💨

If I had a nickel for every time a flare occurred while one of the GOES satellites was being eclipsed....I don't know exactly how many nickels I would have, but it would be quite a few.

Happy SUNday, have an M6 flare! 💥

LAUNCH of NASA's IMAP and @NOAASatellites' SWFO-1 from the Kennedy Space Center! Seemed fitting to get the launch transiting the sun given the very important space weather benefits these spacecraft will give us in the years ahead! GO IMAP! GO SWFO-1! #FLwx

The results are in! Solar Cycle 25 has reliably peaked at SSN 161 in Oct 2024, with the smoothed trend on the decline the following 4 months. Barring an unlikely large resurgence of activity, we can now definitively assess the results of forecasts of peak SSN. Let’s get into it!

Another negative polarity coronal hole (#80) has entered the chat, becoming geoeffective in the next 4-5 days. Will this one follow the scientific path which supports a low likelihood of seeing strong activity or the new path that -CH78 blazed which goes against the grain? 👀🔥

Although none are overly complex as of right time, quite a few regions have rotated onto the disk over the past few days. Think any of them will try to challenge yesterday's G3 storm? Can't possibly allow the most notable storm as of recently be due to a coronal hole, right?😉
