I just passed @PaulRandal and @KimberlyLTripp on my flight. Between the three of us, we've got a LOT of SQL knowledge on this flight... but none of that is because of me.

Pro tip: if your company says you're "critical" and/or "we can't do this without you" but they're not looking out for your wellbeing or giving you the resources you need - they don't care about you. If they say they do, it's nothing but lip service (not speaking for me here :-)).

An absolutely underrated side-effect of any company that uses design docs / RFCs / ERDs / ADRs and circulates these: It's a *lot* easier for engineering managers, tech leads, staff+ engs to keep up with what is happening. Without such a culture: these people are often left out.

My company's new book hit number one for Military & Science Fiction for a brief bit, and has stayed in the top 50 since we went live on 1/12! Check it out if you get the chance, and get ready for Book 2, releasing next month! amazon.com/dp/B0BM3Y926T

Math, gaming, analytics. Excellent.

So I did the math and found a system that would improve magic in three ways: 1. It slightly decreases how often the opening hand causes a non-game. 2. It makes digging for a combo with mulliganing about 40% as effective. 3. It greatly speeds up the game startup time.

Every machine learning course starts with a dataset. Somebody decided on the data you needed, collected it, and put it together in a neat format. All you need is to load it, and you can start modeling. Unfortunately, that's just fantasy. Real-world doesn't work like that.

Morning, "...Happy Friday. Life is short, time is precious, and anything can change in the blink of an eye. We don't know what tomorrow will bring. Never waste an opportunity to tell someone you love them and hug them tight." Today brings opportunities. Make the most of them.

I wonder if data is truly transient, or is it merely scoped to a frame of reference where the observer sees it as different/changing? The data might have been wrong, but it was true for that time. @AdiPolak
