Councillors on adult social care scrutiny committee @hantsconnect vote against a recommendation to close #OrchardClose respite centre on #HaylingIsland It's a big victory for @saveorchard carers group. That is now sent to the cabinet member for decision on Weds 27th Feb.
Alternative motion from @CllrCarpenter put forward "The committee are unconvinced about the closure of #OrchardClose and asks the council to look for other ways to make savings or alternative ways to fund the facility" @SaveOrchard @hantsconnect

So it’s down to a categorisation issue? That’s what they are basing their decision on? Surely all people in this situation require respite care at some point?
The idea of working with @portsmouthtoday and West Sussex County Council raised. #Portsmouth has its own facilities - albeit Russetts in Hilsea does have @CareQualityComm "requires improvement" rating. @SaveOrchard @hantsconnect
