Ever since SCOTUS made the diabolical decision in Citizens United to equate money and speech, our campaign finance system has become a cancer to our democracy. Prop 131 would allow for more dark money to flow into our state, undermining the principle of one person, one vote.
Prop 131 would fundamentally transform Colorado’s best-in-the-nation system of elections. In my view, Prop 131 would replace our excellent election system without any persuasive reason to believe the new one will be better.
With Prop 131, Coloradans are being asked to throw out our excellent system of elections without any persuasive reason to believe the new one will actually be better — while risking the possibility that dark money will play an even more destructive role in our state’s democracy.
