If the goal of @govkristinoem's veto was to make it easier to use #bticoin in commerce, the exact opposite was achieved. The Veto means bitcoin and cryptocurrencies are still general intangibles in South Dakota, which hurts its negotiability and transferability as a legal matter.

SB 151 (cannabis expungement for small stand alone charges after 5 years) was just Vetoed by Governor Noem. This bill would have helped 30k+ people and could have had a positive economic impact of nearly $71 Million over just 2 years for the State. #ReeferMadness is alive & well.
I wrote and carried a lot of projects this year: SB 10, SB 73, SB 83, SB 101, SB 151, SB 152, SB 190, SJR 602 all got to the governors desk and are waiting executive action. Then my bills SB 3 and SB 72 were both defeated in the house.
My bill SB 151 has made its way to the Governors Desk. This bill will allow low level possession and ingestion charges for cannabis to come off a persons record after 5 years with no subsequent charges. It is a step in the right direction for those damaged by Reefer Madness.
While SB 3 has a very long path ahead of it - tonight was a major victory for the people of South Dakota, and will send shockwaves through legislatures across the country. The 17 Senators who stood with me have my eternal respect for standing with their people.
Today I did a procedural move to delay debate on SB24 until Monday. Original bill will limit patients ability to home grow and the amendment offered isn’t complete enough to provide adequate concerns by Public Safety - I will draft an amendment to address both
