BREAKING: KiwiRail has announced it will bring back the Northern Explorer and Coastal Pacific in time for summer - great news! Now let's keep working towards more frequent, faster, electric passenger rail services to connect people across the motu.

Here's a blog I wrote during lockdown for @equity_ed_nz about ways that the government responded to COVID to be flexible and to reduce inequalities within education, and how those responses were necessary even without a pandemic, and so should be continued.

A new blog post by Tim Young about some of the government responses to COVID-19 that are also tackling inequality in education! equitythrougheducation.nz/latest-news/20…

We went to today! The Ruakuri tour is fully wheelchair accessible (but pretty tight in places!). I highly recommend it!

Thanks @TronFringe! Huge help 😊 Nivara Lounge sounds nice.

Earlier in the year @Heyitsmacaila saw a tweet encouraging events to include the disability accessibility of venues - we have included that into our programme. Any questions about our events please contact us. We would like our festival to be an inclusive and supportive space.

This whole thread about solar electricity is incredible. Very informative. Thanks @future_crunch for the recommendation.

Woo hoo! Awesome work Tim Young and Gerri Pommeroy on The Project tonight talking if the disadvantages faced by those with disabilities to get onto Council. I hope Hamilton is the first place to show this can be done. @YoungForHCC

Be informed before voting for regional and district/city candidates. A great infographic by @jennifernickel explaining the role of both local governments, and highlighting their importance.

It was great to be on @TheProject_NZ last night with Gerri Pomeroy talking about the challenges disabled people face getting into politics, and explaining that accessibility affects us all at some point. Watch segment here: bit.ly/2kGYJCs

This is great! Now for the rest of Council employees and contractors!

LIVING WAGE AGREED FOR WAIKATO BUS DRIVERS! About time - and backpaid to 1 July! The Govt transport agency NZTA has finally agreed to honour an arrangement made 10 months ago. Drivers have been paid crap wages for years now; no wonder it’s been so hard to recruit enough drivers!

I would guess the numbers would be similar for City Councils. Problem is that most Councillors are not anticipating disruption, and most I've spoken to think they're more prepared than they are. Dunning-Kruger effect perhaps?
