Sunspot region 3664 really putting the “active” into active region.. Look at all those halo CMEs popping off! And another released this morning 👀 (Hopefully this actually posts as a video this time)

AR 13668 continues to produce eruptive flares. This X2.2 flare on May 9 was associated with another halo CME, likely Earth-directed. The messy geo-space environment starting May 10 or 11 and lasting a few days will be explained by @AusSpaceAgency, @TamithaSkov and other experts.

The most intense auroral oval forecast I've ever seen from the OVATION model. G5 anyone?

SWx TREC’s Bhagyashree Waghule took 2nd place in the 104th @AMS #SpaceWeather student poster competition. Her poster discussed Earth's #magnetosphere, transient internal structures, magnetic currents, and #GeomagneticStorms. ams.confex.com/ams/104ANNUAL/…

CONGRATULATIONS to @bvwaghule for completing her @CUEngineering Space Weather Certificate! Well done

Really nice 3-part CME today around 02:00UT!

Excited to hear Sage Andorka at the National Academies Space Weather Panel say USSF is looking for students trained in space weather and space weather forecasting. Space Weather TREC at CU Boulder was created for that very reason! #SWx #NationalAcademiesSpaceWeatherPanel

Sun, we need to talk about your flare. 🌞 The Sun emitted a significant solar flare on March 30, peaking at 1:35 p.m. ET (17:35 UTC). Our orbiting @NASASun Solar Dynamics Observatory captured the action: go.nasa.gov/3uJMtAS

My favorite star ♥️☀️

NASA’s Solar Dynamics Observatory, or SDO, has spent the last 12 years in space capturing our Sun in unprecedented resolution. Here’s what a decade of Sun looks like through SDO’s eyes ☀️

The filament eruption seen in SUVI 304 Å images as reported by @erikapal occurred ~35° behind the east limb (per STEREO-A). This turned out to be a huge CME! This animation combines running difference images from LASCO C2 and C3, which cover 6 Rs and 30 Rs, respectively.

Can't say this was the greatest Valentine's Day gift being that it was barely a M1 and on the west limb, but when it comes to the Sun, I guess it's the thought that counts! 💥🧡

Valentine's Day M-class flare from the Sun (AR 12941)! 🔥 "Just" M1.0, barely making it to the M-class threshold. It does not seem to be associated with a large-scale CME, which would have not been Earth-directed in any case. We may see somewhat increased particle fluxes.

410 years ago today of the first available sunspot record made by Galileo... although he pointed out that he had already observed sunspots in 1610 (but no record is available). As you can see in the image, three sunspot groups were represented by Galileo by three simple dots +

Europe’s upcoming space weather mission has a new name! What was once called Lagrange is now named Vigil. The spacecraft will keep a watchful eye on the Sun to protect us from its hazardous emissions.

#Vigil: the first mission of its kind, set to monitor our active and unpredictable Sun and help protect us from its violent outbursts, and it also has a mission patch! 😎Follow on @esaoperations, see more here 👉 esa.int/Safety_Securit… #ESAVigil
