For any young/aspiring D.C. staff out there: you shouldn't have to put up with this type of treatment from your elected or your colleagues. And no job is worth putting up with this behavior.
Exclusive from @melmason on Katie Porter, who berates a staffer and tells her to “get out of my fucking shot!” while recording a video with the Biden administration. The video + story — scooped by @politico👇🏼 politico.com/news/2025/10/0…
One problem for Democrats is that we continue to confuse the roles of advocate and elected. Advocates should have the gall to change hearts and minds. Electeds should have the humility to represent their constituents.
“The party’s progressives seem determined to reeducate the public rather than compromise for their votes. This is a seductive approach if the goal is ideological purity. It is a problem only if the party hopes to win elections” theatlantic.com/politics/archi…
With all due respect, this is simply not it. GOP numbers declining doesn't mean Dems will necessarily benefit- polls show that loud & clear. Democrats MUST improve their standing w/the American people & can only do that by putting forth a compelling vision of their own.
Chuck Schumer says "even though Democrats' numbers are low," that's fine because they're still higher than that of Republicans. "In a couple of the races where we have the two candidates, we win!"
There should be federal investment in research to find better painkillers women can use while pregnant.
The most important message of this @jbarro piece is that Democrats need to figure out an effective interior enforcement policy -- most Democrats are scared to talk about it. nytimes.com/2025/09/23/opi…
This is the problem: We have lowered the bar for ourselves to the point where we are accepting permanent minority status in a country where conservatives already enjoy entrenched structural advantages. If you take it as a given that Democrats cannot win the states we need to…
If you think the bar for success for Democrats in 2026 is taking back the Senate, you need to exit professional politics immediately.
The bar for success in 2026 is taking back the Senate which, sadly, is not determined by the national popular vote. As the out-party in a midterm with favorable fundamentals, we should be able to take a nap for the next year and still win the House. But the battle for the Senate…
Jentleson retweeting someone cherry picking *Democrats Are Doomed in 2026* data even though Dems lead by 3-5 points in every generic congressional ballot polling average is just too perfect. I wonder if any of this is out of self-interest so people listen to his proposed fixes?

Ok. Here’s the deal: RFK Jr. overpromised an autism report with a tight deadline to his base and to Trump, who is curious about autism in a sort of hobbyist way. He had to deliver something that would satisfy them. He has insisted forever that epidemics are *only* caused by…
After giving it some thought, I don't for a second understand the politics of this Tylenol thing, except insofar as it just signals that Trump is letting RFK Jr. chase his bliss.
Dems are in a similar situation for the midterms as we were in early/mid 2024 -- clearly barreling toward a loss, but not making the decisions needed to change the momentum. We have just a few months to try something(s) new before the momentum is locked in.

The attack on Charlie Kirk is disgusting, vile, and reprehensible. In the United States of America, we must reject political violence in EVERY form.
I'm horrified to hear that Charlie Kirk was shot at an event in Utah. Democratic societies will always have political disagreements, but we must never allow America to become a country that confronts those disagreements with violence. Mark and I are praying for Charlie's…
Horrifying news that Charlie Kirk has been shot. Gun violence and political violence have to fucking stop. Charlie, his family, and all the students who had to witness the shooting are in my thoughts. We have disagreements, but we all agree something has to change.

NEW NEWS!!!!! Congrats to @tkelce and @taylorswift13 ❤️🔥

Good analysis here. Union members are not single-issue labor voters. Many of them are socially more conservative than most of the Democratic Party. ALSO, Dems should keep doing right by union workers (e.g., Butch-Lewis was good) even if that doesn't win over their votes.
Arguments that X policy (e.g., Medicare for All) would have been better than what Biden enacted (e.g., increased ACA premiums) are silly because no president would have successfully pushed M4A through Congress. Most Americans will take some benefit over an empty promise.
To recap: Firms have been making people jump through endless hoops just to cancel a subscription, trapping Americans in needless bureaucracy and wasting their time & money. @FTC began writing a “click-to-cancel” rule promoting efficient cancellation, a rulemaking process that…
Democratic governors get it done. On the heels of NC being named the country's top state for business, Gov. @JoshStein_ on @SquawkCNBC: "We are open for business. We've announced more than $20 billion of investment, producing over 23,000 jobs in NC."
North Carolina is America's Top State for Business in 2025, led by a strong workforce and economy cnbc.com/2025/07/10/nor…
