(Talking generally now) If you document your contributions, it has several positive side effects. 1 positive side effect is that you can now talk with future employers with facts and substance. Rather than awkwardly trying to remember what you did when the interviewer asks.

Example: If your manager remembers like 2 or 3 contributions instead the 50 you made when your manager's boss ask about your impact in the company, you are screwed. Because your manager's boss will interpret your impact is too low, when in fact is the opposite. Document.

Exactly except that some times around high performers there tend to be an issue with documenting one's work and contributions. If you do not document your contributions in writing, you are getting the boot soon. Why? Your manager forgets conversations after 5min of talk.
