No good news to report yet on the recovery of the data on compute nodes in ATL, ORD and PHX. The @kzngdn freelancers are still on JFK.
Be back in a bit — putting another kid that woke up back to bed.
One of the most important lessons was don't put backups on storage that is not easy to get the data back from quickly in an outage.
One suggestion would be to sell some SmartOS instances to folk to pay for the hardware but that would require ramping up things quite a bit.
Anyone got reasonable questions for a FAQ on migrations from backups?

FYI: The summary so far. ATL / ORD / PHX have zero shared hosts left. All those computes nodes drives were wiped. BSD KVM's also gone.

I'm not gonna say that we fed our front-end engineer too much sugar and she took down the website, but those two things both happened.
Google is innovating fast in the cloud infrastructure race. If the can market, and those price cuts help, AWS may finally have a race.
