How to do modern journalistic sociology: 1. Identify a thing about the modern world: E.g., competition, choices, wealth, lots of food and drink, etc. 2. Note: Some people don’t handle that thing well. 3. Conclude: Therefore, the modern world sucks.

Nothing like a toddler-level tantrum because some conspiracies are real, but what Shermer was saying is that conspiracy theories as a tool are unfalsifiable. Both can be true at the same time if you really try and move in small steps, no need to start a blind vs deaf debate
