@TwipsChess

A mid chess player.

You know… I know that playing only blitz is bad for your calculation skills… but the sheer volume of games has to help somewhat.

Here’s a weird stat: 42% of all the blitz games I’ve ever played were in the last 90 days.

A lot of robots out here liking posts. Glad to see I’m cool with the AI overlords.

We should be inspired by someone going from “chess will never be cool!” to becoming a titled chess player.

This (!!) is new.

After watching any series on “how to improve your chess” my games get worse. Pretty sure it’s that I focus on the two or three things they say and abandon the fundamentals learned via blood/sweat/tears.

So after seeing some great input about how to improve, I have a feral idea rn to make an excel spreadsheet outlining every chess game I play. What things do you think are worth noting? White/black; win/loss; move count; critical move or lessons learned; anything else?

Inspiring honestly. Gives some of us hope 🥹

2 yrs ago, i wanted to learn how to play chess properly i kind of knew how the pieces moved, but i didn’t know any tactics, strategy, openings, endgames, checkmates, etc. today, 2 days after my goal for the yr (lol), i've finally passed 2000 rapid ! (1/n)

Absolutely blundered this ending. Thought I had a mate in one with +7, and just gave the game away.

Alright chess nerds, Happy new year. I ask you, what should I do to improve my performance this year? I’m rated ~2060 in puzzles. My blitz rating fluctuates between 650-750. A guy I work with says that he plays more defensively, and he’s rated 1300.
