Ok, my brain hurts... This visual of a Cosmic Calendar compresses time into a single year: • Big Bang at midnight on January 1 • Present is midnight on December 31 Dinosaurs went extinct yesterday and the entirety of human history exists in an ~8 minute window.

India has recently leapfrogged much of the world on digital infrastructure. The state has built IndiaStack, a set of APIs for identity (Aadhar), payments (UPI), and data (DEPA). Add the 400M people newly connected by Reliance Jio & you have a country that is up and to the right.

The big problems with aging in the industry are health-related. There are several occupational diseases that any programmer sooner or later will have to deal with and the older professionals rarely warn the youngsters about them, and rarely coach them with preemptive measures.

I had never thought about the concept of death as much as I have in the past 2 months.

While we all work together to figure out what we can do to help in the current situation, I think the only long-term fix is for as many of us to move away from large cities. This is the answer to many of India’s problems. And now is probably the right time to work towards it. 1/5

This is a great move. We need to decongest our major cities and develop our smaller towns and villages.

Taking a cue from @Zoho, the Tamil Nadu government plans to develop mini Tidel Parks, IT parks, in tier-2 and tier-3 towns to spread out the IT sector that is too dependent on urban centres such as Chennai and Coimbatore. trib.al/eMdNZDq

The growth and usage of Zoom, Slack, and Teams reflect how broken work tech and culture is. Synchronous communication all day long, combined with lockdowns/WFH, will leave deep mental scars. Sadly, most people won’t experience the freedom of remote-first and async-first.

Speed of engineering is some what related to clarity in feature request document covering all use cases and most importantly why are we building the specific feature and data backing up the claim. Time to code is less than the time developers spend thinking and covering edge case

Why do many people default to "let's jump on a call"? No, let's keep things asynchronous until we can't.
