Living the #secondgrade teacher life, all while trying to #masterit while attending #CUI.
Such a great listen! It really hit home, especially changing attention seeking to connection seeking. If you're in education, you need to give this a listen. #cuiedtech #secondgradelife
“Instead of calling a kid ‘attention seeking’ call him “connection seeking’ & see how you show up.” @JodyCarrington was truly inspiring on this weeks podcast podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/the… #edchat #edutwitter #education #teach #thatonekid #tlap #KidsDeserveIt #teacher #kidsthesedays
A5: I've begun reflecting weekly with my students on an anchor chart and post-its. Last week it was about one thing we'd change about our week, and it was interesting to see how a few would have tried to make better choices at home/school. #dtk12chat
A4: Breathe and remind myself that I don't know all the struggles they face or have faced. Everyone experiences trauma in their lives and we all move on from it in different ways. #dtk12chat
A3: Taking the time to hear my students and actually give them my full undivided attention. #dtk12chat
Q1: When students are experiencing things in their lives that are beyond anyone's control. It can be difficult where to draw the line between empathy and maintaining expectations. #dtk12chat
Hi Everyone! My name is Micaela and I teach second grade in California. I really wish my former principal, who dismissed me my first year, could hear me. #dtk12chat
Such great resources from @TechCoachSusan that I will definitely try with my littles tomorrow. Thank you!! #shesthebest #secondgradelife

Wow. I wish I had seen this two years ago when I was a #firstyearteacher with an incredibly defiant student that I was clearly not prepared for. #teacherlife
Response for, “You can’t make me.” “You are right. I can’t. Only you can make yourself. I believe in you. I am here to help. Good luck trying.” Nod. Smile. Walk away. #edchat #KidsDeserveIt #tlap #thatonekid #edutwitter #educate #teach #teachbetter
This is such a great idea! Place value can be such a difficult concept for some little learners. #secondgradelife
Thanks to the activities feature in @seesaw I was able to watch how each of my students think through math, even when I was working with other groups. Best of all, their parents were able to see right along with me! ❤️ Side note: my class has gotten so good at place value!
I love this! Sometimes the points can be distracting to my students. So excited to try this. #secondgradelife #kahoot
No points? No problem! 👌 Now, you can include questions that are worth 0️⃣ points to give your learners a break. The new points toggle also includes a DOUBLE 💥 points option. Learn more here ⬇️ bit.ly/2CnoPzH
This one hit home with my classroom this week. So many little friends with so many needs that aren't a part of any core subject curriculum. #jugglingact #secondgradelife
Care more about “that kid” than anything ur trying to teach that kid, & u can teach that kid anything u want. How do YOU show “that kid” how much you care? #edchat #thatonekid #tlap #kidsdeserveit #satchat #teach #teachbetter #teachbetter19 #culturize #leapeffect #edutwitter
Can't wait to try this with my class! I'm thinking this will be a great activity to do the week before Thanksgiving break. #secondgradestem
These amazing 2nd graders loved engineering with can’t towers! #mecctaculous #stem2ndgrade #candytower
This hit home today with one of my little friends needing some extra attention today..turns out there were some things going on at home. #buildthoserelationships
A kid has been acting up lately, so I called his mom to see if anything at home was different. She told me that grandma, who lives at home, died last week. It all makes sense. As educators, we HAVE to #QuitTakingItPersonally and #GiveThemGrace
This is amazing! I can't wait to do this with my students. It might be a good idea for open house. #secondgradetechlife

What a great read. So much information that can help solve the problem of inequities in schools.

These are great tips! Thank you @BrianMendler #secondgrade
Tips for defusing mouthy #kids. 1. Walking away = strength. 2. Don’t take it personally. 3. Feel “sad for” instead of “mad at.” 4. 2nd to last word is best. 5. Hear “what” instead of “how”. What would you add? #edchat #tlap #thatonekid #edutwitter #KidsDeserveIt #education
Definitely reading this article to get some ideas for my own students! #secondgrade

What a great resource! My students are still learning how to navigate their iPads in their first year of being 1:1. I will definitely be looking into getting these for my students. #secondgradetechlife
After a slightly overwhelming response to the iPad Placemat, here’s a child friendly version that has already gone down well... #his_learning #AppleEDUchat #EveryoneCanCreate @AppleEDU
This is such a great idea for conferences! I will definitely look into doing something like this for spring conferences. #secondgradelife
My SS made their parents a video for our conferences explaining a strength, weakness, favorite part of school, and something they wish their parents knew about school or their learning. It was incredible and the parents loved it. #flipgridtumbler @Flipgrid #FlipgridFever
