WA's lot split bill, HB 1245, just passed the House 94 - 2! Allowed lot size was raised from 1,500 sf to 2,000 sf, but that's still a huge win for creating smaller, more affordable houses. #Homes4WA sightline.org/2023/01/24/was…
HB 1110 just passed out of Appropriations with all Dems voting yes, plus 5 Rs!!! The bill now goes to Rules, & then the House floor. Thank you to the relentless support from our pro-housing coalition including my colleague @AKB1968. 🙏🏻🥳👏

We're in a #housingcrisis and 20% of Downtown Bellingham is parking. Using HALF of that for housing would increase downtown housing units by 100%. Will #Bellingham get creative and innovative? theurbanist.org/2023/02/20/the…
In late 2021, we announced a new Metro Bond-funded project at NE 74th & Glisan, to be developed by Related NW. We are pleased to share that this development now has a new name: Glisan Landing. Glisan Landing will be split into two separate projects - Aldea and Beacon. /1
Aldea will focus on family housing, with 96 units ranging from studios to 4-bedrooms. This building will be developed alongside @IRCOnews, and will include a community room, playground, community garden, and a planned onsite multicultural preschool: portland.gov/phb/constructi… /2
Beacon, developed with @CathCharitiesOR, will provide 41 studio units of Permanent Supportive Housing for those exiting homelessness, and seniors in need of supportive services. There will also be a small-business incubator space on the ground floor: portland.gov/phb/constructi… /3
Both buildings are expected to break ground this spring, and to open in summer 2024, bringing 137 affordable homes to Montavilla. With four new projects just announced, the Metro Bond is expected to exceed its goals and provide affordable homes for over 4,000 Portlanders in need.

We're excited about this bill. Aiming for 80% AMI and 30% affordable units, while expanding MFTE is a great step towards more affordability.
And... another WA housing bill drops with bipartisan support. HB 1350 would extend the multifamily tax exemption to existing buildings. Requires 30% set aside of units at 80% AMI, compared to 20% set aside typically required for new buildings. #Homes4WA app.leg.wa.gov/billsummary?Bi…
The WA housing bills keep coming: @DrShewmake (D) and Sen. Gildon (R) are cosponsoring a condo bill targeted to small-scale projects. It would reform construction liability laws and improve building codes for projects with 12 or fewer units. #Homes4WA app.leg.wa.gov/billsummary?Bi…
Whatcom County residents need to make more money than most businesses can offer here, to both rent and live. We need to rely on Middle Housing (ADUs, fourplexes, etc) as part of the solution to our housing crisis. #Bellingham
