Congratulations to Honggui, Jiankun, and Tan for improving the single-cell 3D genome resolution by a factor of 4 (to 5 Kb). This allowed direct visualization that multiple enhancers cluster to a particular gene promoter at the same time in a single cell. nature.com/articles/s4158…

SARS-CoV-2 variants NB.1.8.1 and XFG are spreading fast. In this new paper, we explain their high growth advantage. 1. XFG is strong in immune evasion but shows lower ACE2 binding. 2. NB.1.8.1 is very well-balanced between immune evasion and ACE2 usage. thelancet.com/journals/lanin…
