As the fall season gets underway, a reminder high school coaches should be pushing kids to play multiple sports. Kids should play multiple sports as long they enjoy it. “Focusing” on one sport does not make someone a better athlete or competitor or help them meet new teammates.

Track and Field should plan these Tennis-like GRAND SLAM multi-day events over the course of 4 televised days with Semis and finals for all running events except the 3k steeplechase, 5k and 10k. Day 1 Semis for 200m, 400m Hurdles and 1500m with finals for High Jump and Hammer.…

A lot of athletes focus on the sport skills over the summer but ACTIVELY neglect athletic skills They can’t sprint, stop, jump, or cut well And then wonder why they have so many soft tissue injuries The muscles and body aren’t ready to perform 🤷🏿♂️ TRAIN IT ALL

Question for high school athletes. If all you do is go to camps and tournaments all summer to try and show how good you are, when are you training to get better? More work is the solution, not more “exposure”.
Do Track
Female athletes need quality strength training as early as possible. They are 4-8x more likely to tear their ACL. HS girls should be strength (& plyos + agility) training consistently to reduce their risk!
