As long as AI systems are trained to reproduce human-generated data (e.g. text) and have no search/planning/reasoning capability, performance will saturate below or around human level. Furthermore, the amount of trials needed to reach that level will be far larger than the…
Interesting how in all these domains AI is asymptoting at roughly human performance - where's the AI zooming past us to superintelligence that Kurzweil etc. predicted/feared?
Go, #opensource! "• Company starts toying with ChatGPT • They use it to prove their idea • They migrate to an open-source model • They realize GPT-4 is much better • They fine-tune the open-source model • They beat GPT-4"
Open-source models will destroy ChatGPT and Gemini. The story of open-source Large Language Models is the story of Linux. Windows and Mac won consumers, but Linux became the Internet's operating system. The same will happen with ChatGPT, Gemini, and open-source models. Closed,…

imo, a boss should be able to trust and/or control action--as well as be able to independently validate work--of their superstar staff. a) are ai systems being designed in a way that bosses can do that? b) train bosses (e.g. discard misinfo.) - practical w a wide range of users?
Many people are more capable than their boss. AI systems may become more capable than you, but you'll still be their boss. If you feel threatened by having a staff -- of humans or machines -- that is smarter than you, you are not a good boss.
In general, anything #AI

AI Shouldn’t Compete With Workers—It Should Supercharge Them
The economy could get a boost if machine learning engineers switched from copying human abilities to augmenting them.
