Visited a liberal arts college recently. Learned some stuff! 1. The "students don't read" meme appears to be real. Profs there don't assign full books anymore, even to English majors, because nobody will read them. Only chapters/essays, and even that's pushing it. (Not a…
Just figured out where these fake tariff rates come from. They didn't actually calculate tariff rates + non-tariff barriers, as they say they did. Instead, for every country, they just took our trade deficit with that country and divided it by the country's exports to us. So we…
It's also important to understand that the tariff rates that foreign countries are supposedly charging us are just made-up numbers. South Korea, with which we have a trade agreement, is not charging a 50% tariff on U.S. exports. Nor is the EU charging a 39% tariff.

Never before has an hour of Presidential rhetoric cost so many people so much. Markets continue to move after my previous tweet. The best estimate of the loss from tariff policy is now is closer to $30 trillion or $300,000 per family of four.
A high school student asked if he should join a startup or go to university. I said that if he was ambitious he could learn a lot more at a university. The work you do in a startup is severely constrained. If it isn't, the startup is inefficient.
Absolute privilege to host one of the GOATs at SPC today. He's been a mentor and personal inspiration for many years. Thank you @satyanadella.

People have too inflated sense of what it means to "ask an AI" about something. The AI are language models trained basically by imitation on data from human labelers. Instead of the mysticism of "asking an AI", think of it more as "asking the average data labeler" on the…
🚨 Hey folks I got something to announce: I am launching a new investment fund brand: Prototype Capital 🦾 A globally-active first-check investment fund. We focus on cool stuff that's technical hard to achieve, but also still new enough to be a bit weird – globally. Think…
Today we're releasing Not Diamond… The world’s most powerful AI model router. Not Diamond maximizes LLM output quality by automatically recommending the best LLM on every request at lower cost and latency. And it takes <5m to set up. Watch this to see how to start using it:
1/ @southpkcommons Founder Fellowship is the best way to start a company because -1 to 0 is when a company actually starts. Not at revenue or first product. Your company starts even before you have an idea—when ambition takes hold. And SPC is the only truly pre-idea program.

Very excited to announce that Mark Zuckerberg will be joining us @southpkcommons for a talk on Aug 6th! It's a rare chance to hear from one of the great founders of our time on how he kept a -1 to 0 mindset while building @Meta. Space is very limited. Apply to attend below.

Our team, Forma, won second place (out of 44 teams) at the first LLM memory hackathon by @LangChainAI, @AnthropicAI, @newcomputer. I had a blast hacking alongside @_daveyoon @ndrewpang, James, Tati, and Xiao. The demos were great and looking forward to pushing the edges!

First time on this side of a hackathon in about a decade and had a lot of fun building with the team. Thanks for hosting a great event @southpkcommons @OpenAI
Behold! The winners of the @southpkcommons x @OpenAI Hackathon! Over 40 teams spent 45 hours last weekend hacking together these and many more impressive projects. Thanks again to our judges @snsf, Irina Kofman, @mvernal, @arnaudai, & @finn_meeks! 🧵

Last chance to register for the SPC-@OpenAI Hackathon! Starting with an off-the-record Q&A with @sama on Feb 27th. Registration link in the next post ⬇️

Investors are eager to invest in AI companies. But some of the biggest winners from the AI revolution will be existing companies that weren't founded to do AI, but are perfectly poised to benefit from it, as e.g. Facebook was perfectly poised to benefit from smartphones.
We believe in shipping early & often, with the hope of learning how to make a really useful and reliable AI through real-world experience and feedback. Correspondingly important to realize we're not there yet — ChatGPT not yet ready to be relied on for anything important!
ChatGPT is incredibly limited, but good enough at some things to create a misleading impression of greatness. it's a mistake to be relying on it for anything important right now. it’s a preview of progress; we have lots of work to do on robustness and truthfulness.
