Barnes and Noble was closing numerous stores in 2020 and BookTok literally saved them AND increased reading rates AND helped popularize several authors SPECIFICALLY indie authors soooo....
with tik tok gone, we’re gonna start reading more right? RIGHT????
Subways, buses, light rail & high speed rail, bike lanes and every possible thing except cars cannot happen soon enough
Automakers want to turn cars into a subscription service, making you pay monthly or annual subscription fees for key fobs, GPS, CarPlay and more. These add-ins are estimated to become a $200 billion market.
Insanity. This is just the dominant car companies leveraging their market power in car manufacturing to monopolize the aftermarkets for key fobs, GPS, CarPlay, etc. These are tying arrangements and they violate the antitrust laws. They should be attacked ASAP.

every “traditional” social norm was invented by advertisers in 1957 and every “newfangled social phenomenon” has been around for 3000 years
dog and family as U-Haul getting storrowed
Yesterday was the #JamaicaPlain Halloween Dog Parade, one of the best #Boston events of the year. My fave was the Irish wolf hound & fam as U-Haul getting #Storrowed. Also enjoyed Costco Hotdog. More pics from Boston Globe. bostonglobe.com/2024/10/26/met…
“This is because of Trump’s deregulation!” Yeah and Biden didn’t reinstate those regulations
Costco is recalling packages of salmon over concerns they could be contaminated with listeria. cbsn.ws/3YDTV0A
Finding out both Trump and Biden are to blame is yet another example of why your politics have to be rooted in policy and not “Trump bad” team sports. Because why would the Biden admin make significant cuts to planned testing for germs across America's food supply?!

The polls are extremely clear: an arms embargo is popular across the political spectrum and in swing states. @KamalaHarris's refusal to call for one threatens to give Trump the Presidency.
🧐 Did you know our Executive Director Jarred Johnson is from Oklahoma City? 🧵 OKC’s public transportation might not be as robust as Greater Boston's, but it’s undergoing many improvements!
Across France, people have taken to the streets to protest against road rage, after a car driver intentionally killed a cyclist last week. In 1973, protests in the Netherlands sparked a 50-year long Dutch focus on traffic safety for cyclists.
Turn the sound up. This is in the middle of a neighborhood in a city of nearly 6 million people. Cities aren’t loud. Cars are.
Your regular reminder that replacing a regular lane with a cycle lane does not reduce road capacity, it massively increases it, because single occupancy vehicles are the least space-efficient form of transport. You just can't take advantage of that capacity increase in your SUV.

Online: "Vehicle size doesn't matter." IRL: "I can't see my kids!" 😱
good tacos, loaded with meat, with double corn tortilla, for $2.75 each, from a man who goes the extra distance to be a good steward of the community beautiful. come spend money here
trying the taqueria on clark where the guy sweeps the bike lane every morning :)
1. Nobody should have to worry about being ripped off when fleeing a hurricane. As the country reckons with hurricanes Helene & Milton, we’re hearing reports of people being price-gouged for things they need to get out of harm’s way, like hotels & gas. ftc.gov/news-events/ne…
Measuring roadway fatalities by VMT warps the data. This graph doesn't show a decline in fatalities. It shows a massive increase in driving.
Car deaths in America have plummeted over the last century. This is a perfect example of how the world is actually improving despite what you're being told daily.
Driving is often the only option when forced to evacuate. The inefficiency of driving is also rarely more pronounced than it is here.
Here's a look at folks headed north on I-75 as #HurricaneMilton is due to make landfall mid week. This is about 60 miles north of #Tampa and as you can see the left shoulder is now open to add another lane to help people move along. All tolls in FL also suspended. @knxnews
Orange Line Reminder: October 8-20 Shuttle Buses replace service between Forest Hills and Back Bay due to track work. On Oct 12 -14 the work will extend to North Station. Riders can use the Green Line between Copley and North Station. Commuter Rail alternates are available.
