Love this, so important. I have found that when clients say no to active SI, HI, NSSI, no to passive, but then I ask about mental images, that's the point of entry where clients feel like they can use their own language to describe their experiences. Very, very useful.
Excited to share a new paper examining suicidal mental imagery in adolescents out in Research on Child and Adolescent Psychopathology! TLDR: Ask about mental imagery when assessing suicide risk! link.springer.com/article/10.100…
"Black male psychologists made up just 0.87% of psychologists." Let that sink in. Who's working to change that? We want to show you some love!
According to @APA, Black psychologists comprised just 3% of the psychology workforce. Black male psychologists made up just 0.87% of psychologists. #BeingAPsychologistWhileBlack #BlackInMentalHealth #BlackInMH @BlackInMH apa.org/workforce/data…
I’ve spent so much time with incarcerated folks who want to pursue a college degree but who haven’t been able to because they didn’t have access to Pell grants. This is long overdue, but potentially huge news for so many ppl who want & deserve access to education while in prison.
New – Key Congressional leaders have agreed to reinstate Pell grants for incarcerated students as part of a deal on a package of higher ed policies expected to be included in year-end omnibus spending bill, per aides: subscriber.politicopro.com/article/2020/1…

This is just to say: it costs precisely $0.00 for us faculty to tell students directly, and individually, how much we respect their talents, see their potential, & want to work with them. I'll never forget the moments when professors did this for me & don't think I'm unique.
You know when you apply to med school/residency & you have safety, medium, & reach options? Well, I had a PD tell me that I was his reach candidate. After everything that I’ve encountered to get to where I am, that message was so affirming.
👁️👄👁️ why would she attack me like this
From your perspective, it makes perfect sense why you would want me to tell you I'm a psychologist without telling you I'm a psychologist, and I can imagine anyone else in your position asking the same.
Why are all the resources on addressing racism in therapy FOR WHITE PEOPLE There is literally no guidance for Black and brown therapists on this issue when it has the most potential to be harmful to us
Such a critical conversation. White people centering Whiteness in solidarity-building spaces & processes undermines the same project we claim to value. We must do more to support & secure many pathways to solidarity, only a fraction of which have Whiteness at the center.
We need to talk more how to support BIPOC clinicians when faced with racism. There's very little out there on this, but here are the articles that I've found on this topic (lit search courtesy of @RsrchRabbit)
Such a critical point. With this move @IUPedu eliminates itself from dialogues about retaining marginalized students & fixing the leaky academic pipeline. And we're supposed to believe this plan is going to make IUP *more* competitive to prospective students, faculty, staff?????

It’s Day One, so I’m wearing my “Breonna Taylor” mask. A few of my Republican colleagues have called me Breonna, assuming that’s my name. It hurts. But I’m glad they’ll come to know her name & story because of my presence here. Breonna must be central to our work in Congress.
do british people still do the accent when nobody’s around?
What's something that *feels* therapeutic but isn't?
This is incredible and exactly what I’ve been looking for! Great ideas here, and a great article to back you up when you advocate for change within your organization
I'm thrilled to share this preprint with you all. This was a labor of love authored by scholars around the US under the leadership of @ChardeeGalan. It is forthcoming at JCCAP. A Call to Action for an Antiracist Clinical Science: psyarxiv.com/xqwr4/
