MSci, RN - Rookie Intensive care nurse - specifically interested in all things resus, prehospital care and humanitarian aid

There’s no silver bullet when it comes to cardiac arrests, but there is a gold standard - early CPR and defibrillation! Bystander engagement with the above plays a huge part in determining patient survivability The large gap in these statistics demonstrate that perfectly.

How good is your Nation at cardiac arrest survival? 🇺🇸🇳🇱🇸🇦 Turns out the Dutch are pretty good. Look at the numbers below. TY @BARTisDEKONING for sending them to me. Then I read this recent publication in @ResusJournal describing the OHCA outcomes in Saudi Arabia and almost…

Incredible!

This is literally why #NHSfunding for rehabilitation after any sort of critical illness cannot be an after thought. Organ support, drugs & acute care saves lives - access to rehab saves people. Thanks for sharing your journey #rehablegend Source: TikTok @ tinabridge

Thank you @johnacres48 and @BBCDevon for giving @richardgkyle and myself the opportunity to talk about the fantastic and unique MSci Nursing programme at the @UniofExeter. Hoping we persuaded some listeners to consider making the move!

£6.50 for a coffee and a sandwich in my hospital. Enough to sustain a doctor for a 12 hour shift? @NHSEngland @NHSScotland @scotgov @GOVUK why are you continuing to extort doctors? Meals for NHS staff should be free, or heavily subsidised. They should be healthy, and 24/7

Would be great to see all clinical staff have more of a say over what they wear. A lot of the current styles of uniform are outdated and uncomfortable. There’s seems to be a prioritisation of the aesthetic of nursing/AHP uniform over its practicality and comfort.

Any advice for a nurse wanting to gain clinical experience in pre-hospital settings for future #HEMS / #PHEM qualifications? 🚁 Currently based in the southwest!

This also rings true in nursing care. Very often there is a missing piece of simple information that could improve a patients care or aid in the holistic assessment of a patients. However, external pressures (e.g. heavy workload) can obscure it from view.

Errors are inevitable in medicine When I think back, I would attribute most of the ones I've encountered to a lack of information This is usually in the form of some crucial piece of information That 'last known normal' time wasn't correct The patient with 'new right facial…

Curious as to whether there are free formal penetrating wound first aid courses available (similar to BLS) to the gen public, especially in hotspots such as London? And if not, is there a need for it? #MedTwitter #traumacare #CriticalCare

And that’s a wrap! Huge thank you to all the amazing staff @RoyalPapworth and @PapCriticalCare for having me for my final elective placement. These 6 weeks have provided me with incredible learning opportunities, fully exploring the role of nurses in a CT intensive care unit.

Believe it or not this pt is very much alive, but looking at this monitor under normal circumstances it would be full tilt squeaky bum time. This was taken during the “suspended animation” phase of a PTE procedure, where the pt is cooled to 20°C under full circulatory arrest

*Consent gained from pt family* First 2 weeks have been fantastic, first time seeing ECMO in person, just about got my head round it. It’s amazing the amount of cardiopulmonary support @RoyalPapworth are able to provide to their patients.

ITU is crazy enough, but strap wings to it and put it 40,000 feet in the air and you get something pretty incredible. Thank you @RAFBrizeNorton for hosting us yesterday, it was an amazing experience! Career options just got very interesting.

Awesome day at RAF Brize Norton learning about teamwork, leadership and professionalism. Huge thanks to Sgt Hayley, Lucy and team and group Captain Liz Nicholl who made this possible ⁦@ExeterNurse⁩ ⁦@RAFBrizeNorton⁩ ⁦@windsorleaders
