It was a pleasure to share our findings! We feel that with GenAI it’s getting harder for students to distinguish between what is typically human and what is typically machine, perhaps because the mind is a computer is a mind… 🤔
Today at #TC46 Lettie Dorst @agdorst Leena Salmi @jokedaems & @mtkoponen presented a multi-country classroom experiment on #MTLiteracy in the Age of #GenAI, with a rich, insightful analysis of students' views on the differences between #human translation & #MT - & what they share

I said it and I will keep saying it. Training professionals to use AI effectively and ethically as a tool: yes. Substituting professionals with AI: no. Forcing professionals to fix the mess AI made: hell no.
A reminder that Elsevier made $10.5 BILLION in 2022 from selling your academic journals and articles behind paywalls, and make more profit than Amazon, Google, and Apple every year… And paid the academics who wrote the articles $0 And paid the reviewers of the articles $0
Shame shame shame @AstonUniversity
Hey @AstonUniversity, Glad you're improving your staff-student ratio. However, I'd appreciate it if you didn't use my face to advertise your new hires since you actively encouraged me/my colleagues to leave or made us redundant. #Translation & #languages at Aston are now closed.
