"To succeed [with Agile] even on a small scale you need to understand agility, meaning you need practice agility without thought, without quoting a book or the Scrum Guide." -Brad Black
This is almost as stupid as measuring performance by LoC!
“We just had shadow layoffs, and the number of PRs and number of design docs seemed to count into who was ranked as a low performer and let go. So now people are creating tons of PRs - eg 1 PR/unit test - and design docs for every tiny change.” Not surprising, and yet tragic.

I'm happy to say I've just been promoted at Confluent. I'm now a Staff Developer Advocate. I asked if I could be a Broadsword Developer Advocate instead, but they said a mage class can't be trusted with melee weapons, so Staff it is. 😊

Hire Jason! He's awesome.
Current contract is ending in March so I'm open to any and all remote User Research contract roles. Let me know if you know of something - got bags of experience in public and private. Would appreciate it if people could share this and/or let me know of any opportunities

Axiom: all software has bugs. Your software has bugs. The purpose of testing is finding bugs, not proving the absence of bugs. The absence of bugs cannot be proven. If your testing activity finds no bugs, it wasn't thorough enough.
If you squint you can be kind of make out a bird? Complete accident! Couldn't do it again. #latteart

Do I have university teachers among my followers? I'd like to promote Data-Oriented programming as part of a computer science course syllabus.
The isolated-individual model of working is a failure on pretty much all fronts. I know that some ppl seem to prefer it, but insisting on working that way does active damage, IMO. (And this has *nothing* to do with remote or not).
Seriously, you have no idea how must waste, blockage, delay, communication failure, risk, and interpersonal conflict is CAUSED by working solo on separate partial, dependent tasks. If you start to see it, it will break your heart. It is so much unnecessary work and trouble.
I once had a team member who got visibly upset after I facilitated our first mob programming session. He stood up and said: "Look, I've spent many years working hard to get to where I am today, and I sure as hell am not going to share my knowledge here for free!"
