“Sometimes the data looks bad — not because the player isn’t good, but because they’re in the wrong role or context.” Transferable Trait scouting is the key.
The president of Como 1907, Mirwan Suwarso, recently spoke on @TheAthleticFC about the decisive influence Cesc Fàbregas has on player recruitment. 👇 "Sometimes we had a Data Player. According to our data, the guy wasn’t good enough. But Cesc said, no, no — this is because he’s…
I reiterate; Rayan Cherki is the best player in the world.
Cherki is the biggest talent I’ve seen since Neymar.
Very good eye. I suspect it’s less an instruction and more funnelling play through Cherki who, at his core, operates optimally in the 3 central zones. Having players starting narrower and making incisive runs gives his line breaking many options. Closer to goal = more goals.
🚨🆕 𝗥𝗔𝗬𝗔𝗡 𝗖𝗛𝗘𝗥𝗞𝗜 : “𝗣𝗘𝗣 𝗚𝗨𝗔𝗥𝗗𝗜𝗢𝗟𝗔 𝗘𝗦𝗧 𝗖𝗢𝗠𝗠𝗘 𝗠𝗢𝗜 !” "C’est génial. Il est fou comme moi ! On est deux fous ! On parle de tout, c’est incroyable. Le football, c’est toute ma vie. Je mange football, je respire football, je vis football. Pour…
The next step to truly unlock Cherki is to make the epicentre of the City project. Every play must be primed to find him. When he sets the ball and recreates an angle, give it back to him. I feel Tottenham lowered their pressing height 2°. If Cherki was on, City create more!
Guardiola will cherish Cherki. A player who relies purely on technique, (re)creating new pass lanes, constant focus on central progression, and the absolute mastery in all zones and with both feet. When all is said and done, Cherki will be the closest to Messi for Guardiola.
💙🇫🇷 Pep Guardiola: “Cherki is one of the huge talents I’ve ever seen in my career”. “Technically, individually is TOP. The question is how he settles and reads the game”. “Every time the ball comes to him the situation is better. He doesn’t feel pressure”.
Tarik Muharemović & Jonas Rouhi deserve first team football. They’re exceptional Left/Left-Central play consisting of Tarik, Cambiaso/Rouhi, Fagioli/Miretti, Chiesa/Iling Jr/Yildiz shows potential. Tarik’s natural feel, retention, range, and def. qualities make him so special.
I met Yildiz’ family at the 4-0 win over Milan Primavera in May 2023. In fact, meeting a few of those players in that squad - where over half a dozen now play in the Top 5 leagues in Europe - is a moment I’ll forever cherish. Don’t ever leave Torino, Kenan. Make us dream again.
Look at how short lateral passes widen the vertical space between the opponent’s midfield 2… The space must be met with arrivals from att. line. This is why I am hellbent on prioritising technical contribution over goals from my CF. It’s also why Benzema is my favourite CF.
In Possession we talk endlessly about zones, structures & micro details that constrain exploration The most prevalent similarity in all of the best teams: Capture the opposition in your rhythm before changing it Players sharing a system of values that prioritize interaction
Mbangula lighting up the wing for Werder Bremen, Muharemovic winning MOTMs for Sassuolo, Nicolussi Cavgilia call up to Azzuri, Soule spearheading Roma, De Winter playing for Milan, Fagioli playing for Fiorentina, Huijsen at the Bernabeau. My blood hasn’t boiled like this before.
Farioli’s post-game interview after 4-1 loss to Kasimpasa highlights some notes in my pre-game opp. analysis. — Kasimpasa’s vertical transition + use of wide outlets with minimal middle 3rd recycling. — Kasimpasa tendency to utilise cut-backs in final 3rd. — Mamadou Fall threat.
And here is Kasimpasa’s, on-ball tendencies, transitional moments & minute details Alanyaspor can exploit. docs.google.com/document/d/1y4… @Alanyaspor @france_fario
The 2-2 draw between Konyaspor & Alanyaspor was filled with direct relations to a few of my proposed methods in exploiting the former’s structure. Here are a 3: [THREAD] 1) 2v1: wide & central. As noted in my preview, 3-1 build up (instead of Kayserispor’s 4-1) exploits 4141.
With club football returning, I’ve compiled opposition analysis on select aspects for various teams. For Alanyaspor’s game Vs Konyaspor, here is a break down of Konyaspor’s off-ball aspects and how Alanyaspor can exploit them. @Alanyaspor @france_fario docs.google.com/document/d/1j9…
Hearing the Laurent Blanc has left Al Ittihad takes me back to his wonderful Bordeaux side!
So happy for you Samu!
Samuel Iling-Junior with a MAGNIFICENT solo effort! 🤩🔥
Nope. There is only a lack of opportunity in Italy.
"There's a lack of talent in Italy. France has at least four starting XIs that are superior to Italy's first-choice lineup." - 🗣️ Medhi Benatia to @CorSport
Buonanotte’s spatial awareness and incessant positioning in central lanes could actually be more beneficial for Chelsea than Palmer especially against lower defensive lines where his reception is not reliant on back foot. I feel his pressure evading is also superior to Palmer’s.
