Aronofsky's CAUGHT STEALING is from the True Romance playbook. Stealing from Russian/Jewish mafia and then going on the run. It used to be a staple formula in the 90s. Not sure if it totally works now. Butler makes it watchable though.

If I could pick one scene in the history of Cinema to showcase how it is equal parts art and entertainment, I’d pick this! Yes, there is a bit of La dolce Vita and other influences in it, but put together this way, it outshines all of them! What a year 1994 must have been!

If you get a chance, please do watch the Sundance jury prize winner Marathi film SABAR BONDA (Cactus Pears) in theatres. Calling it Brokeback Mountain set in Rural Maharashtra would be reductive for this simple but very powerful film.
